ABOUT

So it seems your fingers have led you on a journey to uncover the age old question that conflicts us all:

To put it bluntly, Our Prince Of Peace (O.P.O.P.) is a kick ass clothing line that features radical styles for the cool girls in town. Designed by 27 year-old David Jon Acosta, the brand that was first conceived from his studio apartment has now developed into a full range collection and is available at over 50 shops across the globe.

With jaw-dropping details like cross back straps, clever cutouts, and bold prints, O.P.O.P. is, in David's words, "not for the wallflower." He says, "My customer is the girl in the room that you want to get to know better and is not afraid to wear something striking. She's a free-sprited road tripper that listens to classic rock and loves to swim in salt water waves."

Growing up in Miami, David says he has long been "obsessed with bright bold prints" and frequently pulls inspiration from his hometown and "all things 90's." Naturally, the line is entirely manufactured and produced in the U.S.A. "Having the line manufactured locally is beneficial for our community, ensures quality, and to be honest I'm a bit of a control freak. I like to be involved every step of the way. I guess it's a win-win situation," laughs the designer.

Today, O.P.O.P. is based in the East Village of NYC and is a go-to brand for stylists and fashion editors alike. When asked the reasoning behind the name, David is quick to explain, "In the Bible, Jesus is referred to as the Prince of Peace. And, while I'm far from Christ-like, fashion has always been a savior to me."

I love all things vintage! I'm obsessed with vintage ashtrays, historical books, kooky sunglasses, concert tees, and tchotchkes. Many weekends you'll find me at the Brooklyn Flea collecting new treasures.

I can't get enough of turbans, and I'm constantly trying to re-invent the accessory. I even coined the term "turband," by combining the words turban and headband. Since its inception, I've sold over 20,000 turbands and had them featured in Teen Vogue.

I have two dogs- Roxie, a boston terrier, and Pepito, a toy chihuahua. Roxie was actually born deaf, but I've taught her some sign language. Pepito is obsessed with shag pillows, he must of gotten that from his daddy.

I'm not big on going to the movies, I go once a year at most. I just prefer to watch 'em at home. Some of my favorite flicks are; Showgirls, Almost Famous, Kinky Boots, Clueless, and Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead.

Being a designer isn't my only role, I'm also a blogger! Catch up on the latest O.P.O.P. news and read my weekly rantings at the blog. You can also catch us on instagram (@ourprinceofpeace) where we love to do giveaways and get feedback from our customers.
